An exciting Balloon Race took place in St Teresa’s Primary School on Monday 9th May. The event was organised by the very committed and motivated Friends of St Teresa’s committee. Over 1200 balloons were released as part of a race to see which balloon will travel the furthest and the winning balloon seller will receive a small prize. The event has raised £2500 in support of school funds.
Today also marked the official opening of St Teresa’s new trim trail which was installed earlier this year. We were delighted to have two special guests open the trim trail, Michaela Walsh boxer, All Ireland champion and silver medallist in the commonwealth games along with Mr Robert McKee manager of Euro spar on the Springfield Road who sponsored the trim trail.
All of the children and parents in the school gathered to Watch the trim trail opened and the balloons released in spectacular fashion. A sea of colour filled the skies above St Teresa’s Primary School amidst a deafening cheer from the children of the school. Joe a Primary 1 pupil who raised a staggering £120 on his own helped release the balloons. Mr Rodgers the Principal commented that today was a very special occasion in the life of our school. To see the children, staff and parents working together in such a dramatic way to support improvements in the school makes all the hard work and preparations so worthwhile. Today will be a day to remember for the whole school community and I would like to thank everyone involved in making the day such a great success.
